PYN Haringey City Hall

PYN Haringey Poster Campaign Launched At City Hall

Photo gallery at the end

So last night, on the 9th September 2014 we invited some of Haringey’s finest people to City Hall on the Thames to launch our PYTHONS Poster campaign, celebrate our vInspired National Award win with other young people in Haringey who helped us get it, to show off our new T-shirts and have another party as it has been a while!!

Thanks to GLA Assembley Member for Enfield and Haringey Joanne McCartney, we got the venue for free – which was lucky, because we didn’t really have the £5,000 a night it actually cost to hire.

We’re really glad most people we invited came, some said they had prior engagements but we know when they see our photos they’d realise they made a mistake and should have got on the train to London Bridge to be with us!!

We launched our poster campaign and some of the amazingly talented young people who featured in the posters spoke about their journey coming from Haringey and achieving – illustrating that Haringey really is the home of success.

Mr Cozier the Head Teacher at Highgate Wood school spoke about his experiences growing up in Tottenham and how important our project is to building aspirations of young people in his school and other schools in the borough.

Dr Victor Olisa, the Borough Commander spoke about how important our work has been in rebuilding the reputation of the area since the riots and enhancing police/youth relations.

Caroline Rowe from the Haringey NHS CCG spoke about how important our Check Up project has been for improving health services for young people.

David Lammy MP, talked about how impressed he has been with us and why he has chosen us to donate the proceeds of his book sales to. We then made him take a picture with us and a cheque.

Lorna Forbes from vInspired also came to talk about why she thought we won the National Award and presented us with our individual certifcates.

We had performances from Haringey’s finest singing & rapping talent; Kayley O’Neill, Nico, Dimi and Kacey Chambers.

Thank you to everyone who came and a special thank you to Joanne McCartney AM and Yvonne Kay for all her help putting the event together.
